SLASH Records New Version Of TRIPLE M's Theme Song
July 1, 2010To help celebrate Triple M's 30th anniversary as Australia's premier rock station, legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES) recently re-recorded Triple M's Dr. Dan theme after he heard the famous rock riff for the first time when he was at the station's studios earlier in the year to promote his new solo album.
Dr. Dan's theme song was a remake of a track called "Introduction (The Journey of a Fool)" from the album "Tarot Suite" by Mike Batt (1979).
Slash told Triple M back in April: "I've got some Australian friends who told me that this theme was the background music for the station. You guys should still use it.
"I think it would be fun to go in and take a stab at that and see if we can make it, I hate to use this word but it's the only word I can think of, but make it more contemporary."
The legendary guitarist recorded a smoking version at his Los Angeles studio. He didn't change it too much besides making it a little faster and heavier.
Video footage of Slash laying down the track in the studio can be viewed below.
